Let It Snow!

The Council has decided that, given the weather forecast that calls for 6-12" of snow, we will not be able to clear the parking lot and sidewalks in time for people can enter the church safely, particularly our partner church, Shepherd's Heart. If conditions on Sunday are not as the current forecast suggests, we may be able to open the church. Further updates will be posted here and a recording will be left on the office phone.

Fairfax Christian Remembers its Past and Plans its Future in Story

Using tools designed by Grove Consulting out of California, we designed a process to take our congregation through a remembering of our past, a claiming of our present, and a vision for our future.
Calling all Trick or Treaters!

All goblins, large and small are welcome to come dressed up and join in our first Halloween celebration. We'll start at 6:00 pm and have candy for trick or treaters, food, warm drinks, and punch for everyone. Later we’ll play games in the sanctuary to celebrate our fun fellowship!
Fall Study at Fairfax Christian

- Offered each Sunday, this story telling program helps children ages 3-11 to engage in the bible stories. Creative play, crafts and snacks are a part of this bible-learning experience. The program begins immediately following the children’s message in worship.
Adult Classes
- Bible Talk -This is an introductory class to the bible where every question is a good question. This class is led by Rev. Russ Wagner-Bark and meets in the Discovery Room from 12:30-2:00 p.m. following worship. Bring your lunch or pick up something after church and drop in!
- Monthly Bible Talk Lunch - Once a month (last Sunday of the month) the Bible Talk class goes out to lunch. Anyone is welcome to join in lunch and discussion.
- Bible Study on The Gospel of Luke -This bible study meets weekly on Thursday evenings from 7-9 p.m. in the Community room beginning September 24th. Led by Rev. Mary Swierenga, the class will help provide you with the unique orientation and stories that are a part of this gospel.
- Sunday Morning Coffee and Discussion -This group discusses the scripture being used in worship and its relevancy for today. It is led by Rev. Laura Swett and meets on Sunday mornings from 9:30-10:30 a.m. in the Discovery Room .
- Disciples Refresher Course - Have you ever wondered why we do things the way we do? Explore the history, polity and unique attributes of our church denomination. This class will be offered in November.
- Church 2.0: Online Fellowship and Ministry - Join Scott and the Web Team Saturday, November 21st from 9:30am-12:00 pm for a class focusing on how we can use the internet to be in community and do God's work, too! Sign-up online or in the narthex. No computer experience required, but some internet skills would be useful.
For the Healing of the Nations

Disciples.org has many resources if you're interested in following along, including a schedule of live streaming video. Additionally, Assembly participants will be encouraged to post their thoughts on Twitter, giving the rest of us not present a feel for what it's like to be there in person. Search for the hashtags #docga09 or #ccdoc. If you're on Facebook, you can also follow the proceedings by joining the General Assembly 2009 Facebook group.

Vacation Bible School August 17-21
Submitted by Scott on Mon, 07/20/2009 - 12:18pmIn conjunction with our partner churches here at 10185 Main, All Nations and Shepherd's Heart, we are excited to host Vacation Bible School next month, August 17-21. VBS will be held each evening 6:30-8:30 to allow children who may have other commitments in the daytime to attend. Registration is free and open to all children, age 4 years through 6th grade, regardless of church attendance. If you would like to register your family, please email FairfaxChristianChurch@gmail.com with your name and emergency contact information, and your children's names and ages. Additionally, we welcome all volunteers who would like to assist in chaperoning and teaching. This year's curriculum will come from the popular VBS series, Crocodile Dock.
